aBOUT Dr. Jeffrey Lavell
Dr. Jeffrey Lavell, DC, earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University and a Bachelor's in Human Biology. He furthered his education with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota at Duluth. After launching Specific Family Chiropractic in Maplewood in 1998 and expanding to Spring Lake Park in 2001, he founded Spinal Decompression Of Minnesota in 2004 for chronic back pain sufferers. In 2020 he merged these multiple practices under the umbrella of Specific Health to better serve his patient's needs.
With over 700 hours in post-doctorate education in nutrition, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, Dr. Lavell is recognized for his non-surgical treatment methods, particularly for lumbar disc herniations. His multidisciplinary approach integrates the expertise of trainers, massage therapists, and other professionals.
Recognized as an esteemed speaker on functional nutrition and healthcare, Dr. Lavell has taught across the U.S. and developed a significant reputation in sports nutrition, brain health, gut health, and digestion. Serving as a team chiropractor for rugby teams and a lecturer on workplace safety and injury prevention, he also mentors students from Northwestern Health Sciences University, contributing to over 40 students achieving their doctorates.
Dr. Lavell is a proponent of a holistic healthcare approach, emphasizing diet, rest, and exercise. His personal interests include fishing, skiing, weightlifting, scuba diving, and movies. He is married with two children.
